After Dario Fo's Accidental Death of an Anarchist

Saturday 30 January 2016, 4 pmNCU Auditorium
"Bechara Mara Gaya" is an adaptation of Dario Fo's Accidental Death of an Anarchist, a play that transposes the absurdity and humour of Fo's original into the Indian context. Cultural detail, witty dialogue and a vibrant cast make it a riotous experience that speaks to contemporary society, taking a light-hearted look at serious issues so the audience can both laugh and reflect.
The story follows the misadventures of a cunning yet lovable trickster who masquerades as an anarchist. Through a series of hilarious mishaps he finds himself at the centre of a police station, causing mayhem as he exposes the absurdities and hypocrisies of authority and social norms. Along the way, the play turns on power, corruption and manipulation.
The production was entered for the 18th Bharat Rang Mahotsav at the National School of Drama.
