Sixteen years of Hindustani theatre

Abhimanch was founded in 2010 by Akash Tyagi and Nikhil Malhotra, to stage the great Hindustani writers with honesty and care. Sixteen years on, it is a 40-strong company of actors, musicians and makers.

Every production has been a ticketed public show, sold on BookMyShow, and the company has played across Delhi-NCR, Bangalore and Mumbai.

Its repertoire has ranged from Premchand, Manto and Bhisham Sahni to Swadesh Deepak's Court Martial and Chanakya Bhardwaj's Hindi adaptation of Dario Fo. Bechara Mara Gaya was entered for the 18th Bharat Rang Mahotsav at the National School of Drama.

Its recent productions have played at Akshara Theatre in New Delhi, and the company has found its present voice: classic stories told with the Manganiyar musicians of Rajasthan, led by Coke Studio Bharat singer Bismillah Khan, often with the audience as part of the performance.
